Lets face it the majority of people choose to get married on a spring or summer day for the beauty and lower chance of bad weather but the reality is winter weddings can be just as perfect and here are a few reasons why…
DISCOUNTS – yes you heard right! As wedding peak seasons are the warmer months most vendors will have specials for winter weddings so saving a few hundred to a few thousand on a wedding venue is always awesome.
AVAILABILITY – As its not peak season you often have a bit more flexibility with your suppliers. Your chosen venue may have several dates available in your chosen month so can work around the photographer you’ve been dreaming about having allowing you to have both.
BEAUTY – Winter light isn’t as bright as summer light, your photographer will be able to grab some awesome shots of you and your guests, speak to them for more about the light differences. Depending on your location you can still capture some of that autumn beauty of trees or light snow falls.
HEAT – or lack there of might sound scary but winter wedding dresses can still be elegant and fashionable. The groom/men will thank you for having your wedding in winter by not sweating so much, meaning they will be more comfortable in their suits.
Think of the flowers…Summer heat is not good for fresh lasting flowers, not all but many flowers will lose some of their beauty after being in your hand, on tables and so forth but winter coolness will slow this process keeping your flowers looking fresher longer.
WEATHER – no one wants rain on their wedding day, regardless of the season, and although winter is known for being cold in NSW is not all about rain. Summer afternoons can bring storms but winter afternoons usually just bring cool to cold temperatures.
ATMOSPHERE – the atmosphere of a summer wedding is usually exhaustion with guests being hot and tired after long busy days outdoors. In winter you can serve warm, comfy and homely food while, depending on your venue, hanging around fire pits.
Some guests may actually consume less alcohol in winter as they aren’t as hot and thirsty due to the heat.
FUTURE – ok this one isn’t just about a winter wedding but more the honeymoon and future anniversaries. As most people get married in Summer and holiday in summer prices for accommodation usually cost more so getting married in winter can also mean you can save on your honeymoon too.
Hope this has helped you see that both winter weddings do have some benefits, which to some could out weight the summer benefits.
